There are 5 editions in Salesforce each with different features. Which edition should you or your customer pick? It depends on what you’re looking for.
The editions are: Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, Developer.
Who uses the different editions?
- Salesforce Essentials: Generally for small businesses.
- Professional: For customers who are looking for full functionality of Salesforce.
- Enterprise: Mostly used for large-scale deployments. This edition includes everything that you get with Professional plus additional features.
- Unlimited: Includes a lot of extra features, like customer support 24X7 with Premier support. With Unlimited, you can also have your org’s storage limit extended.
- Developer: Mostly used by Developers when they work on different orgs to deploy created functionality later. Additionally, this edition is also known as a DevOrg which you can create free of cost to learn Salesforce. (DevOrgs do have some feature limitations.)
Older Salesforce editions that have been sunset and are no longer used are: Contact Manager, Group, Personal, Performance, Database.com.
