Salesforce Flow Builder: The Most Powerful Automation Tool

Flow Builder is the most advanced automation tool available in Salesforce. It’s a part of the low-code development revolution in Salesforce. The functions provided in Flows allow you to do advanced tasks so that you don’t need to go for custom development.

Creating a Flow

To access Flows in Salesforce, follow the below steps.

  1. Go to Salesforce Setup, and search for “Flows”.Search Salesforce Flow
  2. Click on “New Flow”.New Salesforce Flow
  3. There are different types of Flows that you can create according to the business needs. Most commonly, Screen Flows are used in place of Custom Lightning Components, and Record-Triggered Flows are used in place of Custom Apex Triggers.

  6. Here you can perform DML operations and SOQL queries declaratively.
  7. For fetching records, you can use Get Records and similarly for Update and Delete operations.

Salesforce is going to deprecate Process Builder and Workflow Rules soon. Because of this, it’s important to know about Flow Builder and what it is capable of.

Salesforce Flows differs from the other most commonly used automation tools, Process Builder and Workflow Rules, due to the following features.

  1. You can’t query data in other automations.
  2. Other automations aren’t bulkified.
  3. Other automations can’t be triggered on Delete DML operation.
  4. It can be used to create UI-based applications while other automations don’t have this functionality.
