Salesforce Company Information

One of the areas of Salesforce that I frequently check when starting a new implementation or engaging with a customer for the first time is the Company Information section.  The Company Information section of Salesforce is under Setup.  Below is a screenshot of what that area looks like.  Today, I will discuss a few of the key fields and pieces of information to consider when starting an implementation.

Salesforce Company Info and Key Fields

Key Fields and Items in Salesforce Company Information

  • Fiscal Year Starts In:  This field is valuable to get an intro picture of fiscal year settings.  This information is also important to ensure you’re accurately communicating with your client with regard to their financial year.

  • Activate Multiple Currencies:  I discussed multiple currencies in a previous blog post series.  Understanding if your client is using multi-currency is vital to the implementation (specifically around Opportunities and CPQ work.

  • Default Language and Default Locale:  These fields impact how end users can see data in the system, so it’s important to note what the values are in these fields and how that aligns with the core user base.

  • Default Time Zone:  Important to keep track of this field and value for system setting tasks such as scheduling Apex.

  • Corporate Currency:  Keep this value in mind for things such as Opportunity Forecasting

  • Used Data Space and Used File Space:  This is important to have an understanding of how much of the allotted data space your customer is using.  This is very pertinent when you are doing data migrations into an org.  This is also important to note if there are concerns with thing such as performance.

  • API Requests:  Important to note the value here so that you understand how much of the API request are being used.  If this number is in close to the max, then it’s important to dive deeper. You should review how the requests are being used and which APIs are being called.

By reviewing these key items in the Company Information section, you can quickly and easily learn a lot about your organization.
